After ten years as assistant principal of Sts. Joan of Arc & Patrick School, Mrs. Mandy Smith is taking a new position with Kokomo Schools where she will serve as Education Diagnostician for grades K-12.
“I will be assessing students who could possibly have special needs,” Smith said. Among her many responsibilities at STSJP, she worked closely with students who had special academic needs as well.
“Working here for the last ten years has made me a stronger person spiritually and mentally,” she said, adding that her faith life has grown stronger and she has developed lifelong friendships through the Church and school.
To the students who have been blessed with her leadership, Smith advised them to “keep working hard and don’t give up. You can do anything you put your mind to!”
According to principal Mr. Nick Kanable, Smith has been a fantastic leader during her time leading STSJP.
“I have had so much fun working with her,” Kanable said. “Her dedication to students, families, and our staff has been inspirational.”
While he noted that her departure will leave big shoes to fill, Kanable added, “I know that she will continue to use the gifts God has given her to bless others.”
The school and PTO will be hosting a farewell open house for Mrs. Smith on Wednesday, July 20 from 6:30-8:00 pm (following the 5:3o pm Mass) in the parish hall at St. Patrick Church. All are invited!
