Since 1974, National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It begins the last Sunday in January and runs all week, which in 2022 is January 30-February 5. The theme for National Catholic Schools Week 2022 is “Catholic Schools: Faith, Excellence, Service.”
At STSJP we will celebrate with Masses, open houses, fundraisers for our sister school in Haiti, and fun dress-up days.
Here’s a look at the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5:
Weekend Masses (Jan. 29 and 30): Students wear uniforms to Mass and qualify for a future non-uniform day on February 18. Our students will make announcements at each Mass.
Monday, Jan. 31: All Mixed Up! Wear your clothes backwards, inside-out, or mismatched.
Tuesday, Feb. 1: Holiday Day! Dress in the theme of one of your favorite holidays.
Wednesday, Feb. 2: Decades Day! Pick a decade with a fun style and have fun. The 80’s are usually popular!
Thursday, Feb. 3: Hero Day! Dress like one of your heroes. It could be a character from a comic book, or a movie, or maybe your mom or your dad or even a favorite teacher.
Dress-up Day Guidelines: Any student may replace any of these days with jeans and spirit wear. Modesty is expected. You may not wear jeans with holes that show any skin. If you choose to wear leggings, your shirt must cover your rear end.
Open Houses: Both of our campuses will be hosting Open Houses!
St. Patrick Campus Open House Wednesday, Feb. 2 - 5:30-6:30 Students entering PS through Grade 2
St. Joan of Arc Open House Thursday, Feb. 3 - 5:30-6:30 Students entering Grades 3-8
Fundraiser: The St. Patrick campus will work towards the goal of raising enough money to sponsor one child’s tuition ($240) at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, our sister school in Bas Limbe, Haiti.
The St. Joan of Arc Campus will battle each other in Jar Wars! Last year, Jar Wars raised enough to sponsor nearly a dozen students!
Field Trips: Field trips are being considered for the week. We will continue to monitor the number of cases of Covid in our school and in the county.
